5 DRIVING PHRASAL VERBS YOU MUST KNOW

Hey student!

In this post, I am going to show you 5 driving phrasal verbs you must know! these driving phrasal verbs are connected with driving, ok?

So here we go!

CUT (SOMEONE) OFF

MEANING: TO BLOCK SOMEONE’S WAY; WHEN SOMEONE SUDDENLY DRIVES IN FRONT OF YOU BY CHANGING LANES.

 

Here are some examples

  • I can’t believe it! That moron just cut me off!
  • Be careful, Peter, you can’t just cut off people like that! It is rude and dangerous!

 

TO BUCKLE UP

MEANING – TO FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT.

Here are some examples

  • James always forgets to buckle up
  • Buckle up kids, we’re going on a road trip!

 

TO PULL OVER

MEANING – TO STOP YOUR CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TO DRIVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND STOP YOUR CAR, OR MAKE SOMEONE ELSE DO THIS

Here are some examples

  • A police officer asked me to pull over last night. Guess what? I got a speeding ticket. Unbelievable!
  • When I saw the ambulance, I immediately pulled over

TO FILL UP

MEANING: TO PUT GAS IN YOUR CAN TANK UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY FULL

EXAMPLES

  • Morning sir, fill it up, please
  • We gotta fill up the tank before we take the highway

TO SLOW DOWN

MEANING – TO REDUCE THE SPEED.

  • You are driving too fast! Slow down!! You don’t wanna get another speeding ticket, do you?
